Artist Statement
"The Arts do not easily offer the same direct impact and actionable steps to research and innovate solutions to our climate issues that STEM professions achieve. Music, however, has a very unique capability -- the ability to tell stories, engage with a history, and serve as a unique form of communication.
Through music and the arts, I seek to meaningfully engage audiences and professionals, inspiring innovation and energy to address Climate Change.
I want the audience to experience something about our human interaction with the natural world which cannot be put into words. Together, we may work together to inspire and expand our capacity to address the challenges we face."

About Me |
Timothy Reinholz (b. 1996) composes music which builds upon the classical tradition and addresses issues of the modern world, incorporating the philosophical and production techniques of electronic music into music for the concert hall. With a passion for impacting Climate Change, his music tackles complex scientific data and showcases hidden stories in the scientific literature. In January 2023, his orchestra piece Aspects of the Thaw was a finalist for the Crossroads of America commissioning competition held by the South Bend Symphony Orchestra. This piece was composed using Climate Data from Antarctica. In addition, his music has been toured around the midwest by Milwaukee’s Tontine Ensemble and he has been commissioned by Romus Kulturskole in Norway.
Timothy received his Masters of Music in Composition from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2021 where he studied with Tansy Davies, Don Freund, and Aaron Travers. While at IU, he worked as a Vice President for the Student Composers Association where he organized concerts in art galleries and brought in guest lecturers. His thesis, Letters from Keeling, uses the text and data from C.D. Keeling’s foundational atmospheric climate research in Mauna Loa Hawaii in the 1960’s. Timothy has also completed his Bachelors of Music in composition from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2018 where he studied with Keith Fitch. Beyond composition, he has studied jazz with Russ Johnson, viola with Mark Jackobs, and electronic music with John Gibson. While completing his Masters, Timothy worked full-time in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing industry to support the global production of Covid-19 vaccinations and other rare disease medicines. At Catalent, he quickly rose to a leadership position; managing a team of 10+ direct reports, creating a positive work environment and supporting employee career goals, collaborating with cross-functional teams to evaluate existing processes, driving quality-focused efficiency and productivity, and reducing labor costs to improve site performance. In addition to his time in Manufacturing, Timothy has professional experience in Film Archiving at Memnon, Arts Management at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and Customer Service in various food industry and retail positions. |
